HISTORY

Moplip Theatre is an Edmonton-based creative force founded by Philip Geller and Skye Hyndman in the summer of 2013. They have been creating original work ever since, collaborating with young and emerging artists from many disciplines. Philip Geller is a decided theatre artist in the BFA acting program at the University of Alberta. Skye Hyndman is an active spoken word poet, playwright, and student of mathematics. Together, they are making great things small in condensed plays and capturing moments with poetry and humour. Geller collaborated on Hyndman’s first play, Heads of Our Offspring, which debuted at NEXTNextfest 2013. Six months later, Moplip Theatre put on Half Shambles, a collective, in the Living Room Playhouse. Geller went on to direct her second play, Prue and Ambrose, at the ROXY as part of Nextfest 2014. Moplip Theatre has then moved on to produced Enid and The Death Wish and Pinniped and Other Poems at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Geller and Hyndman also played an integral part in the production of The Darling Family by Linda Griffiths at the Edmonton Fringe (2016), their first co-production. Keep your ears open and eyes peeled for updates...

"The performances in Philip Geller’s production, though, are honest and charming; they have a directness that cuts through deliberate quirkiness."

-Liz Nicholls (Edmonton Journal)

"Skye Hyndman turns magic genius everything she touches"

-Mary Pinkoski (Edmonton’s Poet Laureate)
